  2.     ADD A NEW PRINT SERVICE
  3.  
  4.     In Enlighten, you can define a printer as a print server or a print
  5.     client. Altogether, there are three options for configuring a
  6.     printer when you click on the Add button: as a Print Client, a Local
  7.     Print Server, or a Network Print Server.
  8.  
  9.     Each of these windows contain buttons and fields which are common to
  10.     both print client and print server configurations.
  11.  
  12.     Apply
  13.  
  14.     Save the configuration specified.
  15.  
  16.     Clear Fields
  17.  
  18.     Click on this button to clear the existing choices in all fields.

  20.     Cancel

  22.     Click on this button to close the window without making any changes.

  24.     These fields are the same as the ones for the Local Print Server,
  25.     except you need to specify an I.P. Address for the network printer
  26.     rather than a Device name for a local printer. See "Local Print
  27.     Server" on page 7-5 for a description of the rest of the fields in
  28.     this Print Services window.

  30.     Print Service Type
  31.  
  32.     A set of toggle buttons to specify if a printer client or printer
  33.     server is being configured. The setting here will determine the look
  34.     of the rest of the window.

  36.     The following subsections details the window and field formats for
  37.     each option.

  39.     Device
  40.  
  41.     This is the device, such as /dev/lp (parallel) or /dev/ttyh7
  42.     (serial), where the printer will be attached. This device must
  43.     already exist.

  45.     Server Hostname
  46.  
  47.     This field specifies which host in the current pool will be used as
  48.     the print server for this printer. The arrow button to the right
  49.     will pop up a list of all hosts in the current pool.

  51.     Printer Model
  52.  
  53.     This field lists the type of printer driver to be used. A hostname
  54.     must be entered in the Server Hostname field before selecting a
  55.     driver. The arrow button to the right will pop-up a window listing
  56.     of all the available printer models.

  58.     This field is mandatory. See "Custom Driver" on page 7-11 for more
  59.     information on creating your own printer drivers.

  61.     Note: When you add a printer to the system, it is automatically
  62.     enabled.

  64.     Class
  65.  
  66.     For systems using the System V type spooling system, a printer can
  67.     be added to a printer "Class". A printer class is a printer
  68.     designation where the first available printer in the class will the
  69.     print the job. This is a useful mechanism to better distribute print
  70.     jobs on multiple printers of the same type.
  71.  
  72.     This field is an optional field. If no printer class is entered,
  73.     then the printer (queue) will not be put into a printer class. If a
  74.     printer class is entered and it does not exist, the class will
  75.     automatically be created.

  77.     This field is not used by systems using the Berkeley style printer
  78.     spooler (lpd) or by IBM AIX systems.

  80.     Hosts Allowed Access
  81.  
  82.     This text field can be used to specify which hosts are allowed
  83.     access to the print server. The arrow button to the right will pop
  84.     up a list of all hosts in the current pool.

  86.     Network Print Server

  88.     To configuring printers as network print servers, select the Server
  89.     and Network options from the Add Print Services window, as shown
  90.     below.

  92.     Hostname

  94.     Use this field if you want to configure the new printer on a subset
  95.     of the currently managed hosts. Leave a blank space between each
  96.     host name if you are specifying multiple entries. You can also click
  97.     on the arrow button to the right to bring up a pick list of all
  98.     currently managed hosts and make your selections from there.
  99.  
  100.     Local Queue Name
  101.  
  102.     This field specifies the full pathname for the local printer queue.

  104.     Remote Host
  105.  
  106.     This field lists the host being used as the print server for this
  107.     particular client. The arrow button to the right will pop up a list
  108.     of all hosts in the current pool.

  110.     Remote Printer

  112.     This text field specifies the remote printer used to service the
  113.     print jobs. The arrow button to the right will pop up a list of all
  114.     known printers defined on hosts in the current pool.
